In the Tumbleweed level, our beginner class, patient instructors introduce the water to each swimmer at their own pace. Every child will learn basic water skills that make swimming fun! Entry requirement is 3+ years of age.

Now that swimmers are comfortable in the water and look forward to attending lessons, our instructors will build their confidence further by presenting more challenging skills from our curriculum. The primary goals in the Teddy Bear Teddy Bear Cholla Level is to develop a STRONG Kick and a streamline swimming posture so that when we introduce Big Arms in the next level they have a strong kick to support their stroke. The Golden Barrel Level is one of our most challenging levels. We teach kids to coordinate their arm and leg movements to form the basis for a Freestyle stroke. We also ask them to propel themselves on their back for the first time. The entry requirements for the Golden Barrel Level are the Passing Skills for the Teddy Bear Cholla Level.

Skills Learned at this Level

1-“Big Arms” Coordinated with Kickers 2-“Fining and Kicking” on Back 3-Independently Diving for Rings 4-Jump In and Back float

Entry requirements for the Prickly Pear level are the Passing Skills in the Golden Barrel level.

Skills Learned at this Level

1-Freestyle in good form 2-Tread Water for 1 minute 3-Elementary Backstroke

In the Joshua Tree Level students learn a very difficult stroke, the Breaststroke and proper turn. It takes a coordination and determination to learn the Breaststroke. We started with Saguaro when my daughter was 2.5. Now four years later she is begging me to let her swim with the swim team. After just a short time she was able snorkele with us in Hawaii and was able to navigate open water around the reef. My son is 3 and although he can be a handful (that's possibly an understatement) Josh and the teachers he has trained have handled him beautifully. They allow him to be silly and have fun in the water while still being structured enough to teach him safety skills. Now he wants to practice in the bathtub! We loved Grace, Darlene, Eddie, Gordon, Robin...and are always sad when they graduate, or have babies and make transitions, but we have always had top notch teachers and understand that growth and change are part of life. My littlest (10 months) will be starting swimming lessons soon, can't wait to introduce him to the joy of swimming at Saguaro.
