The Saguaro Aquatics swimming lesson curriculum has 7 levels. We call the first 3 levels “Survival School”. Our patient coaches will teach your child to be comfortable in and around the pool. The basics of swimming will be taught by experienced coaches who will introduce your child to the joy of swimming in a caring, fun, and personalized way. The goal of the first 3 Levels is for your child to survive a fall  into the pool.

After water safety has been accomplished the next 4 levels of our curriculum moves on to “Stroke School”. In these levels swimmers learn the competitive strokes, as well as treading, safely diving, and proper push offs and turns at the wall. The goals for swimmers in Stroke School is for them to be able to swim each of the competitive strokes with proper technique, and to improve their awareness of water safety.

For more detailed information on each level, for prices, schedule and online enrollment, please visit our Group Swimming Lessons Page. For assistance selecting the correct level for your swimmer please click the Level Selection Tool button below.

We started with Saguaro when my daughter was 2.5. Now four years later she is begging me to let her swim with the swim team. After just a short time she was able snorkele with us in Hawaii and was able to navigate open water around the reef. My son is 3 and although he can be a handful (that's possibly an understatement) Josh and the teachers he has trained have handled him beautifully. They allow him to be silly and have fun in the water while still being structured enough to teach him safety skills. Now he wants to practice in the bathtub! We loved Grace, Darlene, Eddie, Gordon, Robin...and are always sad when they graduate, or have babies and make transitions, but we have always had top notch teachers and understand that growth and change are part of life. My littlest (10 months) will be starting swimming lessons soon, can't wait to introduce him to the joy of swimming at Saguaro.

  • How Long does it take Beginners to Learn to Swim?

  • It depends on several different things...

  • Variables that impact the duration for a beginner to learn how to swim include age, prior swimming lesson experience, other sports the swimmer has participated in, if there is a pool at home, and if the swimmer has had a negative experience in or around water.

  • Are Private or Group lessons best for my child?

  • Typically group lessons, 2 or 3 days ...

  • BUT with the Pandemic we are only offering Private Lessons at this time. Group lessons cost less, allow your child to learn from their coach AND other children. Group classes allow your child to watch other children swim the correct and incorrect way to do a skill

  • How can we Practice at Home without
    a Pool?

  • We have some simple drills that allow you...

  • Breath control is the KEY to the learn-to-swim process. Blowing bubbles in the bath tub will help! If the lips don't quite get into the water you can start with a full size straw. Trim it down before each practice session. Before they know it lips are in the water blowing bubbles.
